From May 17th to 19th, 2013, UPitt Lions Matt Bohince, Alex Cupo, and Catherine D'Ardenne attended the PA Lions State Convention held in Valley Forge, PA. The Lions spent the weekend participating in seminars, sitting in on meetings, and exploring the great city of Philadelphia."My favorite part was the district 14-B caucus, even though we were only there for a few minutes," Matt said when asked about his experience at Convention. "For the first time at a district meeting, I felt like a contributing member instead of a guest. We've worked hard all year to build strong, lasting relationships with these Lions and I think that those efforts will pay dividends. I know it sounds kind of silly that my favorite part was a 10-minute informal meeting, but it made me feel a strong sense of belongingness, which was awesome.""Going to Convention made me proud to be a Lion," Catherine said. "Everyday we met fellow Lions that were involved with this project or that fundraiser. Their enthusiasm was contagious. 'We Serve' took on a whole new meaning for me. I left feeling inspired to work harder on our initiatives this fall. I also realized how lucky I am to have joined the Lions in such a supportive district. The 14-B Lions rallied around the University of Pittsburgh Lions Club to get us chartered. I hope we can make our fellow 14-B Lions proud by having an awesome 2nd year."
